I Show My Body Gratitude By…

I show my body gratitude by knowing her love languages: quality time and physical touch. As a dancer I’ve had an intimate relationship with my body since I was 5yo. She’s always received my focused and undivided attention. I’ve spent most of my life partnering with her in the exploration of movement; allowing my body to experience its greatest capabilities and wildest dreams. Together we built a dance and aerial arts career; performing on sets and stages around the world. And because my body has so generously allowed me to indulge in my passions, I listen carefully to her needs. And I constantly nurture her with Pilates and other healthy lifestyle habits to make sure she thrives.

Physical touch has always been integral to my work as a dancer. And maybe that’s why I’m such a touchy-feely kinda person, a hands-on Pilates teacher, and Licensed Massage Therapist.  But touch is such an invaluable part of the human experience and my body agrees. My fascination with the body and human potential has inspired thousands of hours of study and practice at massage therapy school. So my body is lucky to have experienced so many forms of touch; both Eastern and Western therapeutic techniques. But my body responds most favorably to myofascial treatments which is also what I specialize in. Oh, and hugs! And so I gift my body with both forms of healing touch regularly.

S.I.T. With Yourself in April

This month’s #soakedinthought journaling prompts are dedicated to body confidence and fitness as a lifestyle. As we move into Spring and the fitness industry ramps up its messaging about getting “in shape” for Summer, I hope you’ll sit with yourself to figure out what your body, mind, and spirit need to feel healthy, fit, and happy – without all the external voices.
